When I first got started at the gym, I had no idea what I was doing.
All I knew is that I didn’t want to be fat anymore.
Weighing in at 196lbs with no muscle mass, I didn’t feel good about myself but I did know one thing:
I was going to look better no matter what.
And that was exactly what I did.
In just 8 months, I went from being skinny fat to building some muscle and even having visible abs.
You know what people thought about that?
They congratulated me, then gave credit to my metabolism (and not my hard work).
“I wish I had your metabolism”
Most people have no idea what a metabolism really is, and honestly mine isn’t actually all that good.
I only burn about 2,600 calories per day on average and that includes heavy lifting.
The people who blame their metabolism generally don’t lift any weights consistently.
Or track their calories.
Or weigh-in daily.
They’re not a victim of a poor metabolism, but they are dealing with the result of not being accountable.
Now, before you think this email is all about how great and smart I am (only half true), there is something to get out of this.
You can control your body fat and muscle mass.
You just need to learn exactly how.
In order to control your body fat, you need to learn how to control your calories.
In order to control your muscle mass, you need to learn how to get stronger and increase workout volume over time.
If you can do these two things, you’ll be able to accomplish amazing things.
