Why Rest Days Are Important
“Sore today, strong tomorrow.”
“No pain, no gain.”
“Unless you puke, faint, or die, keep going.”
Chances are if you’ve spent any amount of time, you’ve come across a version of one of these quotes on an image designed to be motivational.
Here’s a fun fact:
Beating your body into submission in the weight room is not only going to make you sore, it’s going to take you forever to recover as well.
And the truth is making your muscles and connective tissue sore doesn’t equal progress.
In fact, it’s probably better in the long run to have more rest days, sleep more, and train smart.
