Sales Secrets From A Smiling Injury Lawyer

It seems like there’s a new social media algorithm change every other day lately, but for those of us who are selling stuff on the internet…

It doesn’t really matter.

The principles of sales and marketing never change, regardless of the format it comes in.

I’ll give you two examples so you can see exactly what I mean:

190 years ago, Jared Bell decided to put up absolutely massive posters in New York to advertise the circus.

Sure, the ad’s concept was new so it got attention by default, but you can sure bet it put people in seats and made money.

A more modern example would be a billboard for a personal injury lawyer, and the one I just came across simply said:

Injured? Big cash real fast

Lawyer name

(insert easy to remember phone number)

All of this text was next to a big picture of the lawyer himself… smiling?

Interesting choice of expression…

But now that I think about it, maybe he’s smiling because he knows he can at least alleviate the pain of relentless and seemingly endless medical bills that can pile up from injuries and get paid in the process.

Either way, that billboard still follows the base principles, because it:

  • Speaks to a specific audience with a problem (literal pain)
  • Mentions a desired outcome (payout)
  • Has an implied call to action (call now)

And of course it’s obnoxiously clear and concise because it’s designed to be seen while people are driving by.

In the digital products game, it’s really not that different.

You need the right kind of attention.

You need to offer a solution your ideal customer cares about.

You need to ask people to buy one way or another.

And you have to do all of this in a quick and clear way, because if there was a “speed limit” on social media scrolling, I’d bet 99.8% of people would get pulled over, so-to-speak.

Remember these 3 principles while building your biz and it’ll make your life so much easier.

Any questions? Let me know.

-Gabe
