Time Waits For No One

I was told time speeds up as you get older and I never really believed it until about 7 years ago.

In my 20s, I felt like I had all the time in the world to figure things out and what do you know…

I got nowhere… slow.

Worked some jobs, hit the gym, went out with friends, and generally floated through an entire decade of my life.

Didn’t even have a car because everything I did was super local.

Sure I worked on some side hustles and made (quite) a few bucks, but never took it all that seriously.

But by the time January 1st, 2019 rolled around, I started to realize a big problem:

I was about to turn 30 and had nothing to show for it.

At that point, I must have subconsciously changed my approach to life because I stopped overanalyzing and just started listening to my gut.

“I’m gonna go sell cars”

2 and a half weeks later, I got a job selling cars.

While I wasn’t the top salesman by any means, I did well enough to pay off all my debt, get a 2017 Elantra, meet my wife, and move out of my mom’s place within 6 months.

And that was the point where time really started to speed up fast.

Even considering the lockdown era…

Every time I blinked a new major life event happened.

Blink: Engaged

Blink: Married

Blink: Baby 1

Blink: Got into sales management

Blink: Moved to the Midwest

Blink: Baby 2

Blink: Moved into a house

Blink: Baby 3

The last 7 years felt like maybe 2 and I have a wild and crazy hypothesis on why time speeds up as you age:

1 year is 3.8% of 26, but only 2.7% of 36 which is my current age.

You can double check my math, but 36 should feel about 29% faster than 26, simply because that 1 year is a smaller percentage of life at that point.

Then of course there’s the big reason:

You tend to get busier.

Working long hours, marriage, kids, health and fitness, home management, bills, appointments up the wazoo.

Maybe a hobby or two if you’re lucky.

Relax time is usually spent watching Reels or some show on Netflix to unwind after all the chaos.

And with the way the world is going right now, it’s almost mandatory to start some kind of side hustle or business to get ahead.

But if you’re living even the simple family life like I do, there isn’t much time in a day to do everything you want to do.

So if you’ve been wanting to start earning extra cashola on the side…

What you do has to be efficient and fit in your schedule.

In my opinion, a digital product business is the way to go for that reason.

This is part of why I wrote The Blueprint, because it gets straight to the point in only 22 pages which you can read in one sitting.

It gets you set up fast and even gives you a 90 day action plan so you don’t have to wonder what to do next.

Read. Implement. Grow.

Time waits for no one.

It will pass either way, and only get faster.

The question is:

Will you start that business or not?
