There’s been this ongoing problem in the online education space, specifically courses, that’s only been getting worse over time.
More and more people are popping up every day who have no business charging the prices they do for information when they don’t even like teaching.
The way they justify the pricing is with “personalized coaching” when half the time it’s just templates which are hardly personalized and the so-called coaching is just group calls about a topic.
The crazy part is they’ll slap a 3k to 30k price tag on it, hire appointment setters, sales closers, customer support, managers, and do whatever they can to maximize revenue…
Just to take home sub-30% margins anyway.
To be fair, there are a few people I follow and respect who run a similar business model to this, but they go above and beyond to make sure customers and clients are happy and get the desired result.
But for me?
I wouldn’t touch that business model with a 50 foot pole…
I didn’t get out of sales and management just to do the same thing for myself, and also have to manage the books, take on all the liability, and work longer hours.
I got into online biz to buy my time back and get paid to help people solve problems.
Sure, it’s probably faster and easier to sell high priced services to help rich people get richer, but that’s a whole different discussion.
As far as the course thing goes…
My way is the best way… for me.
And if there’s anything you take from this, it’s to find the best way for you.
A way that fits your current lifestyle as you build, but also fits your ideal future lifestyle.
If you want to build a big business with a big team, you can do that.
Or if you want to build something that can be run in a few hours per day or less, you can do that.
