In light of yesterday’s post about taking a whole year to sell 500 copies of a low-ticket ebook, I wanted to talk about why I’m taking the slow approach to business…
There are a few reasons I’m doing it this way despite knowing about faster ways to more revenue, which I’ll get into right now:
The first reason is my schedule.
I’m slam packed 4 days a week and quite busy the other 3 days.
I’m out of the house from 8am to 8pm on work days, which doesn’t leave much time to breathe let alone effectively run any other type of business model after eating and getting the kids ready for bed.
And on the 3 off days, I’d rather spend more time with my wife and kids than hop on calls to run service based or coaching offers right now, although I am still adjusting to the new work schedule so that may change down the road.
The next reason is I’m not in a rush to get paid.
I’m not saying 500 ebook sales is going to be easy, especially considering the size and engagement of my current audience, but with each sale being 5 bucks right now (or 32 with the upsell), it’s not exactly going to make me wealthy.
My job is going to take care of all the bills, I’m in a highly competitive niche, and the worst thing I could ever do is be an overly needy or pushy salesman in a market where trust is at an all-time low.
The last reason is I have a reputation to build.
In the same vein of not being in a rush to earn, building a good image in the marketplace is my biggest priority so I’m only selling products I truly know can help at an insanely low price to get my message out there.
As more people start buying my ebook and implementing what’s inside, more and more people will start getting results and sharing testimonials which can lead to more sales and at one point… slightly higher prices.
In my opinion, based on what I see in the marketplace every day and my own experience in other niches, my guide is worth at least $25 retail which would 5x revenue for the same number of sales.
But reputation-building goals, not being in a rush, my schedule, and my business model preferences led me to my current path.
If I had more time and needed money asap…
Running a coaching or service based business would be a much faster path.
One of the things I talk about in The Blueprint is deciding on a business model based on your lifestyle and preferences, so if you don’t want to just sell low-ticket ebooks, you don’t have to.
You can pick the right option for you and your goals, and back it with a system that still builds a good reputation and attracts customers.
And at the end of the guide, I invite you to join my community for further support and guidance.
