Just experienced the most unhinged and unapologetic bait and switch marketing method today:

  • Creator launches 27 hour free course
  • Also posts full course on YouTube
  • Gets 30,000+ members in the course
  • Announces course will be improved
  • Everyone is hyped and energy is high
  • Launches updated course. So cool!
  • But wait… now only Module 1 is free
  • YouTube course gets taken down
  • Want the rest? Upgrade to high ticket
  • Don’t want to pay? Too bad

The messed up part is…

I’m 100% sure this approach will still do millions.

Most of the audience is so bought in they won’t even care about the rug pull, and with the way people’s brains tend to work…

They’ll forget about what just happened in a few days IF they even noticed.

I truly do not know how some “marketers” sleep at night…

Anyway…

Fortunately there are ways to do business online that don’t require bait and switch tactics to make a buck.

You can simply offer a good product for a fair price and spread the word as far and wide as possible.

And even if you want to use scarcity tactics…

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that if you’re up front about it.

“First 100 members free”

“Taking 3 clients this month”

“Raising the price in X days”

Sure, sometimes plans can change.

But how you handle the change can make all the difference.
