Remember when you could post on Instagram and your content would be seen by your friends, family, and followers?
Nowadays, posts barely get seen unless your content is exceptional and even then it’s mostly seen by non-followers.
If you want consistent reach, you have to pay to boost posts unless you already have a big audience.
The same thing happened with Facebook Pages back in the day.
Now it looks like Threads is about to meet the same fate.
For the last two and a half years, you could go relatively viral for posting a random shower thought.
But then I got this email in my inbox this morning:
“Threads accounts are now available in business portfolios”
Meaning you can now run ads on Threads.
And more ads are showing up on the app.
There were barely any last week.
If this app follows the same path all the other Meta apps did, we’ll quickly notice a drop in organic reach which increases the incentive to pay for ads or create somewhere else for so many users.
On top of that, Meta is testing a subscription option in the EU market where users can pay for to remove ads in their feed.
So what’s a Threads user to do?
Nothing different if you ask me:
- Keep making better content to help your ideal customer
- Keep building connections via comments and DMs
- Make sure your profile is clear about what you do
- Promote your offer once a day
And if you want to, test out some ads for 3-5 bucks a day.
A lot of people get tripped up by changes, but when you’re building a digital product business you gotta learn how to adapt fast.
That doesn’t mean rework your whole strategy when it’s not working fast enough.
But it does mean it’s a good idea to see how you can take a change and turn it into an advantage.
That’s how I see it at least.
And if you want a system that converts social media scrollers into customers regardless of ads or algorithm changes, along with insights on the 4 main digital products and how to price them…
