How I Had My First Ever $100 Day Online

Way back in the day in September 2012, I had my first $100 day online with digital products.

I was already doing a few main things:

  • Posting articles on my blog
  • Publishing YouTube videos
  • Sending emails to my growing email list

And most days I didn’t make any sales, but when I did it was somewhere between $10-50 at most.

So when I did more than double my previous best it was quite a cool feeling.

Here’s how I did it:

At that point, I had been selling a couple different ebooks and courses and it was going okay, but I felt like those products were a bit flat.

As I was planning out another product to help my audience better, I came across a really cool oppotunity.

There was a very popular blogger back then who figured out how to get tons of traffic to her blog, grow her email list, and sell products.

So what she did was create a product called Traffic Dashboard which went over 20+ different ways she got people to visit her site.

Here’s the crazy part:

She also launched an affiliate program and instead of offering the normal 20-50% commission…

She decided to offer 100% commission, effectively making it just as profitable as creating your own product.

So I bought the product for $39 to make sure it wasn’t just another “slapped together” course and it turned out to be really good.

It also helped that I was already using 4 of the different methods inside the course…

So I decided to share it with my email list:

And from one admittedly-not-that-great email sent on 9/18/12 with the subject line:

“Do This, Make More Moolah (super simple)”

The results were as follows:

3 sales, 1 small upsell at 50% commission.

$130 in one day from an email that took me 20 minutes to write.

I went on to make several more sales after that from writing more simple emails which is pretty cool.

It’s too bad that creator left the industry in about 2019, but that happens I guess.

All this to say, one of the most reliable ways to make sales online is by building an audience that builds your email list and sending the right offers to help your ideal customer solve their biggest problems.
