3 Social Media Methods For Your Digital Product Business (Pick One)

One of the best things you can do right now is build a business with social media.

One of the worst things you can do is be completely reliant on one social media.

Fortunately, there are 3 main ways to enjoy the benefit without the downside.

Let’s get right into it:

Option 1: The One Platform To Email Method

This is the classic beginner advice because it’s so smooth and simple.

It allows you to get good at one platform a whole lot faster because you’re not distracted by 9 ever-changing algorithms and social media nuances.

And as you build, your email list will grow.

So if that account ever gets taken down for whatever reason, you can start a new account on that platform or even another one and just email your list about the new account to kickstart it.

A clear focus with a safety net is a good combo.

Option 2: The Manic Maximizer Method

For someone with a bit more experience in the social media landscape, it might make sense to post on multiple platforms with tools like Buffer, Repurpose dot io, Metricool, or other services like that.

Some examples based on content type:

Short text posts: X, Threads, Facebook Page, YouTube Community Tab, Substack Notes, Instagram (as a screenshot post or story), LinkedIn

Articles: Substack, X, Medium, LinkedIn, blog, Threads (as a multi-post Thread), Facebook Page, YouTube Community Tab

Short form video: Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, Facebook, TikTok, X, Pinterest, Threads

Long form video: YouTube, X, LinkedIn (under 15 minutes)

The issue with this method is it can get messy and hard to manage real quick, especially if you start getting appreciable attention on more than one platform.

I still recommend building an email list if you take this multi-platform approach, but it protects your content efforts either way.

Option 3: The Balanced Trifecta Method

One thing I’ve always known is you need attention to build a business.

But one thing I’ve been really learning this year is the more trust you can build before people see your offer, the better your results will be.

Short content gets attention.

Long content builds more trust.

An email list makes selling easier.

So the idea here is you pick a short form content platform like X, Threads, or Instagram…

Combine that with a long form content platform like YouTube, a blog, or Substack…

And build an email list with Kit, Beehiiv, or well… Substack…

Then you have a balanced content engine that gets attention, builds trust, and converts sales easier.

Which method is best for you?

All 3 can work if you work them and the answer really depends on your personality, schedule, current lifestyle, goal lifestyle, and preferences.

For most people, option 3 is the best way to go because it’s the most balanced and fits in most schedules.

Take a moment to reflect and see which one you think fits you most, then run with it for at least 90 days.

The other part to consider is well… everything else.

The market, the niche, the offer, the system, and the ability to show up every day.
