How To Sell Stuff For Beginners

I’ve been known to sell a thing or two at my various day jobs over the years:

  • Had a $500k revenue month selling cars
  • Had a $20k weekend selling furniture
  • Had a $6k day selling arch supports
  • Had a $25k week selling auto repair
  • Had an $18k month selling gym memberships

Admittedly, since these are all revenue numbers and I don’t own any of the companies I worked at, I only got a small crumb of commission from all these sales.

However, these experiences taught me a lot about what people respond to when it comes to making a purchase.

Sales really comes down to 3 main things:

  1. Marketing – If you have no one to sell to, it’s really hard to sell things. Good marketing attracts people who want what you have for sale, so it’s a really important piece of the puzzle.
  2. Presentation – Even if you have a lot of people to sell to, a bad presentation will only sell the hyper-buyers who already planned on buying no matter what you said. Knowing what to say and what not to say and when to say it or not is incredibly valuable.
  3. Delivery – Great marketing and sales with a great product is a great business. Great marketing and sales with a bad product is a scam. Delivering a great product and experience is how you get repeat and referral business.

And aside from the medium…

The digital product business world isn’t all that different.

You still need good marketing from content or ads, a good presentation via sales page, VSL (sales video), webinar, or workshop, and to deliver on the promise you make in your marketing and sales material.

If you do these 3 things right, you won’t have to be some kind of aggressive sales closer to make money talking about your skill, interest, or hobby on the internet.

In fact, it won’t feel “salesy” at all.

The problem is it’s way too easy to overcomplicate it.

And it’s too easy to get overwhelmed and do absolutely nothing about it.

This is why I created the 3 Step Launch Plan, so you can get your metaphorical ducks in a row before you start selling online, and you even get a 90 day challenge to start seeing results.
