This morning I woke up as I usually do…
Then immediately went back to sleep.
Then woke up again.
And went back to sleep.
For the last couple weeks I’ve been dealing with quite the annoying eye issue which has made even typing my daily emails quite the literal pain.
One eye is crystal clear, while the other is red and blurry.
Driving was possible until this morning…
So I finally figured enough is enough.
I packed up my family of 5 and my wife drove me to the local urgent care.
Since I’m in that weird gray area where I make way too much for free healthcare and not quite enough to comfortably afford the nonsense my job “offers” me, which is very much full price, I paid out of pocket for this visit.
And then commenced the first doctor visit I’ve had in 84 years.
(By 84 years, I really mean about 11 years, but anyway…)
Blood oxygen levels good, blood pressure great, ears good…
But when it came to the vision test…
Great on my right eye, abysmal on the left.
Apparently I have 20/40 vision right now.
After that, I had more tests on my left eye including some sandpaper-like tab jabbed in my eye to put some dye on it followed by UV light directly in my light-sensitive eye.
Not exactly a fun time for me, but I made it through…
Turns out, I have a few scratches on my eye which makes sense with 3 kids and 2 dogs, although I’m not exactly sure how that happened.
I left the office with a script for some special eye drops and now I’m just at home hoping they help my eye recover enough to work my short day tomorrow.
But I guess we’ll see…
(ha, “see” because of my eye issue…)
In any case…
One of the many reasons I’m building an online business…
…is to help cover unexpected expenses like this.
It’s another reason I suggested doubling that number we calculated in yesterday’s post, so real health insurance is actually a possibility.
